Coming home from my trip from Tokyo my head is filled with the amazing trends popular among the ahead of the game Japanese. For the next couple posts I will be filling you in on what's big in Japan, and what better way to start these trend reports then sharing what's hot on top of the head. That's right, hair. The ultra-high bun on top of the head was seen everywhere from Harajuku to Shibuya. Tokyo's youth are embracing this on top of the head bun and it looks like Marie Claire magazine is picking up on it to as seen above. Either messy or tight as can be add a few inches with the ultra-high, ultra-chic top bun.

Trend: Short Suit Sails
Looking dressy can be overwhelming in the relaxed atmosphere of summer, so instead of grabbing your typical power suit opt for a short suit. The matching shorts and blazer combo turn a menswear essential into a sexy alternative. Embark on a fun summer fashion voyage and pick beach-like fabrics such as an adorable seersucker in light pastels.

Trend: A Side of Salmon
Add some color to your brown rice ensemble with a splash of salmon colored pieces. The camel and khaki items in your wardrobe are excellent choices for a clean look especially in classic items (like the coat above from W magazine). With a side of salmon your basic look gets a trendy and playful makeover. Eyes will feast on your color choices and your plate will be happy too.

News: Met Gala "Model as Muse"
With this year's Costume Institute Met Gala being themed "Model as Muse," how perfect was it that Twiggy and Agyness Deyn were photographed on the red carpet together. Each channeling a different look, both British models who are strikingly similar played up opposite sides of their androgynous looks each wearing Burberry. Agy is our modern day Twiggy being that she is skinny, blond, has cropped hair, and a neo-mod style. The two looked flawless together; a match in fashion heaven!

Trend: Pop Prints
Unleash the artist inside of you and explore the trendy canvas of this season's prints. Looking very much like a silk screen by Warhol himself, this Oscar de la Renta dress references a subtle pop art approach to prints. Of course you can always go bolder with colors from Andy's pallet. Though watercolors are nice, there is something that pops in a silk screen inspired dress, I guess that's why they call it pop art.

Trend: Life's a Beach
As summer is slowly approaching, the new trend for evening wear reflects the beaches we are all so desperately longing for. Typically beach inspiration reminds us of varying shades of blue and green, but this time we are skipping the swimming lessons and heading towards the sand. Create a sandy evening look by choosing caribou colors or even a pale taupe (the spectrum of sand hues is vast, so go with what looks best on your skin tone). The movement of the wind through the sand on a summer day is inspiration for soft layers of whispy tulle lining your legs. Free-flowing and anti-structure is the way to go with this trend because we would be caught dead wearing a sand castle.

Trend: Above the Rest
What do you stand for? You don't need a soap box to get your views out there when you are wearing the new kind of platform pump. This shoe is a pump basically smacked on top of a ridiculous platform. It is a more architectural way to go about getting more height without crossing into red light fashion. Looking like a surreal sculptor's dream, who knew your 6 inch pumps needed a raise?
